It’s that time of year where you are flooded with reminders and suggestions on how to “refresh” your home, refrigerator contents, wardrobe and fitness routine (or maybe start one). We spend so much time trying to tidy, clean, refresh and begin again when it comes to food, fitness, how we manage our time, our faith even, but what about your relationship with your spouse?
How I wish we could all adopt the attitude my toddler has about things that frighten us, but let’s be real, she is 2. I’ve tried to do my best as a parent to minimize scary things, but I can only do so much and don’t want to shield her forever. Instead I want to teach her how we deal with them. How we bravely choose to live in a world where nothing is certain or predictable. As a military kid, she has already experienced some unique situations her civilian friends haven’t and most likely never will- her Daddy deployed, came home injured and then left again for several months.
